Spring Parade of Homes

From award winning homes and their
builders, to 1,000s of visitors, WE DID IT!

The Spring Parade

of Homes was a resounding success! With roughly 30 homes included this year, Treasure Valley residents and visitors alike were able to experience some of the best, most innovative homes being built in the area! Put on by the Builders & Contractors Association of Southwest Idaho, and with the support of dozens of companies and individuals, it took a team to bring this all together. We cannot thank everyone enough! We look forward to this twice annual parade so much!In recognition of their achievements and expertise in the industry, Spotlight's own Jennifer Hickey received an award for "Associate of the Year" for her member recruitment efforts and her willingness to help and support the organization. Congratulations to all! check out available homes at buybuildboise.com

The Designer's Details

Our in-house designer shares his trends, tips, and advice for the summer season!

It's patio season! With summer fast approaching, it is time to get our patios and yards ready for cozy evenings by the fire, and afternoons spent playing in the yard! Its that time of year where we naturally start to focus more on how we live and spend time outside rather than on the interiors of our homes. Don't get me wrong, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we can't neglect the inside of our homes! Take a look at the list to the right for my patio musts, and go to the link at the top to buy directly from Amazon. Talking home interiors and summer, some of the easiest things to focus on throughout the summer are rather simple, and can become part of your routine rather quickly! Most of us have house plants that thrive outside in the warm months; if you have these, consider moving them outside so they thrive for a few months. Use them to decorate your patio space at varied heights and on plant stands to add some privacy! You can tuck in some outdoor lighting to make the space even cozier in the evenings. Now that you have plants off of shelves and counters, take this time to clear off the rest of the items, wipe down these areas, and keep them clean throughout the summer Grab an old pillowcase, get it lightly damp, climb on a sturdy ladder, and put it over the blades of your fan and wipe off all the dust! This is great, because all the dust stays in the pillow case to shake out outside, and then just throw it in the wash! Be sure to replace your HVAC filters, and consider having your ducts/returns vacuumed and sanitized if you've never done it before. This will greatly improve the quality of the air inside your home. Summer is the perfect time to have your carpets cleaned as well, because air conditioned air will allow carpets to dry faster, and you can spend time outside on your patio while you wait! Check groupon for some great deals for these services.
